Just wondering if I am the only one who has to fix their Polaris almost every weekend?

I have a 99 Magnum 500. Here is a list of everything that has broken on it in the past 1 1/2 years.

Tie rod ends (replaced twice)
Steering stem bushings
A-arm bushings
Secondary clutch
Rear wheel hub( splines disapeared)
rear axle(broke today)
blown front strut
carb mount cracked (twice)
Wiring rubbed a hole in the float bowl
Upper strut bushing cracked first week
Rear driveshaft was replaced by the dealer and now the grease fitting rubs on the swingarm and is half gone(dealer is supposed to fix it when they do the axle)
The float sticks open when I hit something or get hit from behind (machine floods out and quits)
Gearcase pisses out of the vent tube (checked fluid level and its ok, figure that out)
Floorboard mounting bolts (rubber mounts) broken
Shift selector switch quit working
Speedometer has condensation in it (that cant be good)

I do routine maintenance such as greasing it once a month and changing the oil. I also keep it clean. I only use it to trail ride, so it is not abused. But it just keeps breaking. I guess its time to switch brands!

1996 Trail Boss and a 1996 Trail Blazer.

Spring on the brake lever on the trail blazer and the Chain. Bearings in the starter on the Trail Boss and replaced the spring in the recoil starter.

That is all I have done to them since buying them.

I hate to say it but between my 99 SP and my 99 SC my list is about the same as yours.
I thought I was the only on with Wiring rubbed a hole in the float bowl I fixed it with a screw and some JB weld. My scrambler is in the shop right now getting the 4 wheel drive hubs on both sides replaced and I have had tie rods on both 4 wheelers go out. I also had one of the main rear wheel bolts that connect to the A-arm break on my SP.

I have 5000 miles on my xplorer and have just changed the outer tie rod ends( second time),chain (sprokets are half used),front and rear brakes,3 belts.

My dad has a 99 magnum with 2500 miles and has put in, outer tie rod ends, and a belt.

My cousin has a 2001 HO with 2800 miles and has put in 1 belt.

I am not a die hard polaris fan so this is the truth. In fact i will probaly be getting a 2003 Prarie 650.Bye that time they will have the problems ironed out of the bike and we will all know which suits us the best.

Nothing but the norm for a '00 SP500 with 1900 miles:

1) brakes(F@R)

2) ignition switch

3) steering stem bshg.

4) 'creep in gear' problem that dealer is checking out

minor: found a small hose clamp propping the intake valve open when I first picked it up.

Hope HONEST people keep this thread going and not turn it into bashfest. Sure helps you troubleshoot when the little light turns on and you recall someone's similiar problem.

I had to replace the rear brake caliper because I let the pads wear down too far.(I guess I wasted the seal.)

Other than that, I replaced front brake pads once, and rear once(about to be twice.) I also changed the sprokets and chain once. i can't complain tho cause thats normal wear. I dont know why people get so p*ssed when they complain about replacing brake pads. I mean come on, thats like complaining about having to always put more gas in it after you ride. Or like saying, "Man, I gotta change this oil on this POS Polaris too much!"

It's all good!(At least I think so.)

Hmm...let' see...800 miles...half of time in silver lake sand dunes

1. Broken primary clutch spring
2. Shifter Handle
3. Lost valve cover bolt
4. Brake fluid for rear

From there, here is what i replaced to improve or change

2 Uni Air Filter
3. Full skids, swing, center, and a-arms
4. Chain(did xring)
5. All fluids (oil& filter 2x, tranny, front diff, and front hubs)
6. Modify rear rack to hold toolbox
7. Goodyear power streak belt
8. Spark plug-same time as valve adjustments

Here is what's coming

1. White spring for clutch
2. FMF 900 Series grips
3. Gas tank holders for rear rack
4. Chatterbox GMRS radios

I have not been let down, the machine has always brought me back to my origination.

Lets see. I put in gas, check oil, and greese every so often. Not a single problem with over 2000 miles on my 2000 Sportsman 500. And belive me, I ride in gravel pits, swamps, and drive on the hard side. I am not lying when I say I have had no prblems though, truth!
