My Trail Boss has sitting in the garage with a full tank of gas since May.
I thought I should start it up and let it run for a while. As I was checking the fluids, I noticed that the gas in the tank was cloudy.

Is this a normal reaction for gas after it sits for a while?

Should I drain the tank before I crank up my Boss? If so, where's the magic plug/screw for the tank?

Is there any water in the tank-is it possible any got in there? You could try adding the recommended amount of "HEAT", or any similar gas treatment (have to read lable, I forget how much to add per gallon). This will clear out any water from the tank, might help with the cloudiness.

If you don't want to pull the entire tank off your 'boss, I'm sure you could just unhook the line at the fuel petcock where you change from "off-main-reserve". Leave it in the "off" position, have a 5 gallon bucket handy, with some pliars, loosen the clamp, then slip the line coming in from the tank off, drain immediately into your bucket. That should work for your "magic screw/plug" If it's been sitting since May, especially if it's been hot outside, you could have developed some condensation inside which will lead to "cloudy gas". If that's the case, "heat" will work fine, but if there's something else in there, you're more safe in draining it.

Best of Luck,

Mike

Drain it. Gas is $1.50 or so a gallon. 4 gallons = $6. A whole lot less than the pain in the rear if that gas damiges that carb.

Cloudy=water or dirt, drain and refill, Then start and run it for a few. If you're not afraid of spark plug costs run it with a lot of choke to try and pull extra gas through the carb for a bit, that can get a lot of nasties out without fussing further with it.
