Winch w/ OR w/o Toggle Switch??
#11
When I first installed my winch I left the solinoid out. One day while in some heavy brush, a branch hit the switch and activated the winch. The hook was hooked on the front rack and it ripped it right off. I now have added the security of the sol. switch.

I ended up putting the switch in the green part of the pod. Had a little trouble w/ it here, because it hit the handlebars when I put it back on, so I had to turn it sideways. It worked out, but doesn't look as nice as up and down. Maybe the black part of the pod would have been better, like Stretcher said. Anyways it works fine, thanks for the replies.

I just mounted my Warn 2500. It came with a substantial solenoid to insure the winch would not turn on unless the ignition is on, but the kit did not come with any kind of switch to isolate the solenoid from the battery where the unit is sitting around with the ignition off. Then again, non of the other electrical connections to other functions are isolated either.
