The biggest thing you have to have is TRACTION. I had a hard time getting around the first winter I had my Polaris. The second year I got tire chains. These were well worth the money. Now I have a custom built set of chains that I built. I can go just about as well in snow as I could in the summer. If the snow gets over a foot deep though it starts getting rough going because I have to litteraly push my front end through the snow. I to have a 2x4. The 4x4 goes alot better in snow.
I must say, I do alot of winter riding. For the most part I can get around all winter. The chains are the only thing that make it possible for me.

This is WAY to expensive, but its neat. The 2 bigest things in deap snow is; one traction, Chains work great 2 keeping your front wheels from pushing the snow up in fornt then bottoming out. I have a neighbor kid that had a trailblazer that he fastened old snowmobile skis under the front tires. it worked good. old skis are cheap, see if you can't come up with some kind of way to strap them under the tires.

A great inexpensive "snow" tire is the Carlyle Stryker (Carlyle is owned by ITP) See if you can find some groomed ATV trails, stay off the sled trails...you probably already know that. Ran over to Black River Falls, Wisconsin last winter.....What a rip!!!!! Also the Pure Sports "Realtor" is a great snow tire. Check out Rocky Mtn ATV on prices, they're hard to beat.
