Starter has me puzzled
#1
I cannot get my starter to start. When I try to start it I just get a click from the solenoid. I have replaced the brushes and taken the whole starter apart and cleaned it. I also replaced the solenoid and it just will not turn over. If I take a wire and go straight from the battery to the starter it will turn it over but that is the only way. Does anyone have any ideas?

It sounds like you're losing power between the battery and the starter
somewhere.Make sure all cable connections are clean and tight, especially at the battery. This is often overlooked.Even slight
corrosion can affect the contact between the cable and post, even though it may not look like it.If this is not the problem you may have
a broken wire somewhere along the way or a cable with an end where the
crimp is not contacting the cable properly anymore.Good luck.

Rich, as the other post says, you are losing power between the battery and the starter. Try bypassing the started switch in the handle bars. I have heard of these going bad a producing the problem you are having. The switch may be dirty or totaly bad. If that is not it, continue to check each and every connection throughout the system.
If you don't have a mutlimeter or test light, I highly recommend one. It can help you narrow down the problem much faster.
Looking forward to the ride, still going to make it Sunday?
