Recall notice on all 425 Expeditions
#1
Polaris issued a recall on the "shift drum retainer screws". It says they might loosen and seize up the tranny.
It also says they will replace the shift drum if needed after an inspection is done to the machine. If you bought a used expedition you may not have gotten a letter regaurding this recall, but your machine will be covered according to the recall notice I received . I'm not sure just what these parts do nor have I heard of anyone having tranny lock-up trouble, but its an official recall.

We have already done a recall on a machine that was still on our floor. The job is not hard to do. I should also say that people would be wise to get this done, ASAP. The original retainer screws were barely hand tight. I could have seen them coming loose pretty easily. Polaris sent us 4 recall kits without even asking for them. So far we've only done the one recall. I haven't heard from any customers as for setting up an appointment to get this recall done.
This is my $.02.

my expedition has been at the dealer for 2 weeks..they tell me they havent gotten the parts..polaris tells me the parts are available for the dealers..im starting to get a little ticked off about the whole thing..i cant remember a time that i bought anything new and had to loose it for more than a day to have recall work done, without getting a loaner..

I called my dealer to see if he had the parts or not. He said they did and it bacically consisted of a few screws and some lock-tite. And I guess a new gasket.
I was wondering if anyone knew just how far in the tranny they had to go to do the job? I was wondering if I could kill two birds with one stone and have my shift lever replaced with the new "stronger" one before it decided to break off like some unfortunate folks. Does anyone have a clue?
