I think I might have messed up. Got a great deal on a used Hot Seat pipe and V Force reeds and they went right on. The folks at Hot Seat recommended their J1 weights and a blue spring. Again, no problem, the clutch work was easy and the performance gain very satisfying. Some of the guys told me I should put in a different helix and I think this might be where I went wrong. After a bunch of research I decided that Hot Seat's roller helix was the way to go. Installation was no problem but now I can't keep a belt on it. A new belt starts slipping in about two hours. By then it has stretched a bunch but even tightening it back to specs won't make it hold. Is the HPD rear clutch not compatible with the Hot Seat stuff up front? Should I be treating a new belt differently? The roller clutch really performed well, but I need more reliability.

I have checked for broken motor mounts, cleaned the pulleys when I adjust the belt, and talked to HPD for advice on spring tension in the clutch. Anybody got ideas????

Thanks for your help.

I'm assuming that there is a error, unless Hot Seat just came out with a roller clutch. If you talked to HPD, you did well already. Darrell and Mike dialed mine in, when I thought I was close, now I check with NASA prior to launches. Grab a notebook, and keep track of engagement, shift, and max RPM. Check your belt deflection. Tighten by removing shims between secondary sheaves, and loosen by adding shims. Tis' a good idea to pick up Hot Seats, or someone elses alignment tool. It's hard to diagnose clutches over the net, kinda like fixing a car over the phone, but calling the pros should get you in the ballpark. Hard motor mounts help also, depending on your level of mods. I may sound like a commercial at times, but once you have things dialed in, I strongly recommend the HPD Super Duty belt(Kevlar reinforced). These things really last, even with full race mod motor setups.

Good Luck,
KT

Thanks. You're right the roller clutch is by HPD, but everything else is Hot Seat. I have it apart right now double checking. I think I might just need to check belt tension more. I will definitely look into that clutch tool. I will be putting on one of those Kevlar belts tonight.

Should be able to test it out this weekend.
