I am presently installing a tranny from a Explorer 400 4x4 into my Scrambler 500 4x4. I am goint to run at least 25's but would like to go to 26or 27's. I would like to install a lift kit and gain about 2-3 inches. I can make a kit for the front but how would I do it for the rear? Does High Lifter make a kit for a Scrambler or can I use one for another model?

Thanks

let me know how you make out with the larger tires...i wanted to put larger tires on my scrambler but i didnt have enough clearance between the tire and the rear of the running board. i was told the only way to put larger tires on was to remove the running boards and put pegs on.

You can move the running boards forward. There are different screw holes in them to move them forward or backward. What size are you wanting to run?

When you move the floorboard forward, you only move it an inch or so. The fenders will not move, the mudflaps will alow for this minor adjustment. I would not go much bigger than a 25" tire, you have to keep in mind that this is a Scrambler which may as well not have any front fenders to begin with. I put 25" on mine and let me tell you will be wearing every piece of the trail your riding on. The larger tires work great in snow and deep water crossings, because of the extra clearence. I run 25"Bearclaws on the front and 25" mudmachines on the rear and it's a great combo for winter snow-cross. The 25 are big enough and there is hardly any loss in power. The only thing that I found out is, with the increased weight and traction of the front tire it really bits into whatever you are in and combine that with the power of the Scrambler and true 4x4, you definatly get a work out when those big tires are spinning like crazy going through deep mud and snow. You will loose some stability because of the increased hight and handling will suffer a bit, that'swhy I only do this swap for winter.

The one on Berts has 28's on it I beleive. The last time I spoke with him he was running 31's. Hopefully when his website is finished he will have some pics of it.
