How to replace CV boots on scrambler 4x4

I did it 3 times on my Scrambler 500 4x4's with out removing the hub. Just pop the shaft out of the hub. It is difficult to get back in but if you do it slowly it will just snap back in. You just to have it lined up perfectly. Don't believe the dealer he has to remove the hub. I ripped three boots and just did it myself.

nevermind.....i figured it out. but i do have just one comment. Who designed those
f@%#*& clamps to hold the boot in place? it took about 30 mins to get old boot off and get the new one on, but it took me almost 2 hrs to get those damb clamps hooked! Is there a special tool for those things?

They are pretty easy once you figure out how to do it
Read the follow up post (if you want) from when I did mine
Took me forever also untill I figured it out,now the clamps take under 30 seconds
A pair of long needlenose does the trick
You have to put the clamp on until it catches one of the hooks
then with the needle noise pinch the first and last hook until they come together

I bought the special plyers to remove the clamps. Pretty steep at $25 but they work great. To remove the shaft or put it back takes a quick snap on the shaft. You have to snap it pretty hard in either direction. There is a snap ring on the shaft that you have to pull through. The ring just compresses and stays on the shaft. Getting the shaft aligned back up is a little trickey but just pull the boot clear so you can see. You have to compress the shock spring so that you can move the front end up and down to align the shaft. Just keep at it and you can do it. You got to figure the guys who do it for a living aren't any smarter than us.
