Ok, here's the problem. I had previously blown a belt that tore the heck out of said seal.( pol part # 5410575 )I replaced the seal with a new 1 and saw that the engine side was sealed with a blue rtv.
I did the same. when the clutch was installed again, it tore up the inside part of the new seal.( It had buckled out). I'm wondering if I need to use silicone to seal the inside of the seal, ( no sign of any ) or if I might be missing something else.
Thanks.

If you are talking about the foam PVT seal, it is not a must to seal it with silcon. I never sealed mine with silicon and never had a problem, as long as you make sure it sets in straight.

Use the silicone on the engine seal and make sure no fuel from the carb vent line is leaking on the seal which will swell and buckle it and check for broken engine mounts. If the engine moves to much it will catch the seal and will contribute to a blown belt.

Thanks, and just to make sure, this is the round rubber seal at the shaft for the primary clutch. Not the foam case cover seal.
