Harry,
Real black means real rich. The electrode of the plug (the white part of the tip) should be a light tan color. Here's a link to a great article on carb jetting.

Yes that is a good article.
Also go to www.powroll.com scroll down to plugs, then you can access ngk site, look in thier and you will find a spot that has photos of the plug and how it should look.

It should look almost like this Good plug . ( 1300 miles on that original plug )
But being a two stroke and all I'd not worry about it if it's making power, just keep extras handy. Some two stroker oils foul much worse than others, so play with that too-if your plugs are getting fouled enough to die on the run.
