I printed your post on Oct.4 & 13 knowing at that time I was in need of outer tie rod ends on my 2000 Xplorer. (Which dissappointed me, since the bike only had 300hours on it!!)
Anyway, I just now got around to installing them, and during the installation, I noticed the inners had ALOT of slop in them too!!
But, according to your posts at that time, you had not yet installed the inner ends yet. Did you ever install them? Did you need a spacer washer?

>>Was there any interfernce between them and anything else at full steering lock? The reason I ask that one, is I noticed the head of the bolt used for the outer ones, dug into the heim joint housing at full lock, so I swapped them out for allen head bolts, which allowed full steering without interference.<<

I really appreciate your posts, and your research and efforts have saved my butt!! Thanks!!

Polaris2stroke:
Didn't do the inners yet. I had good luck shooting chain lube under the boot with the little straw attatchment.
On the outers, I spaced the bolt head out a little with a couple washere to keep the head from interfering.
You will need the little spacer bushings on the inner bushings, but be sure to get the NON-shoulder style bushings, when you do, so they fit right. I don't remember for SURE, but isn't one of the ends between the ears on the steering stem? IF so, the shoulder will be in the way of that one.
Also remember that the inner ends are RIGHT hand thread, not LEFT hand, like the outer ones were.

My inner bushings are just BARELY starting to get any play in them. No worries yet. I have about 5300 miles & 390 or so hours on the machine.
Sorry I couldn't help more, and thanks for the compliment. I may just have to let my cap out a notch, now LOL

You gave part#'s for the inner tie rod ends as well in your post, and part#'s for the bushings for inners as well.
I'm assuming the part#'s you gave for the bushings for the inners (pn 06453443) are the shoulderless ones you speak of.
Looks like I'll be the guiney pig on this one. If those bushing p/n's are correct, I'll order now, & install next Saturday.

Yes, I think so. The bushings I recommended for the inner ends should be the shoulderless bushings.
Let me know how it works out.
Good luck

OOPS, I noticed that I posted earlier that I was upset that the steering parts were wore out at 300hours, I meant 300 MILES!!
This quad's tires are only 1/2 wore out, but the steering components are shot!!

300 MILES???? OUCH!! No wonder you are wanting to upgrade. When you said 300 hours, I thought they held up pretty good, but 300 miles? Then again, for all I know, you drive 2 MPH down RR tracks, bouncing between the ties LOL
How are the ones you already replaced holding up? To me they look much stronger than the stockers, but I 'only' have 400 miles on mine, so they still are like new.

I havn't been on a ride with the new ones yet. We are supposed to go New Years day to Windrock for a ride.
I don't ride RR tracks, but, at times we do ride fairly fast on rough, open trails or rough gravel roads (to get to the "good" woods trails).
I havn't jumped it though, and with the luck I've had so far, I don't think I'll push my luck and start jumping it either.
