THE BEARINGS I BELEIVE ARE GOOD BECAUSE THE WHEEL DOESNT have any wobble in it..it has never been opened up because im afraid i cant get it back right..could the axle nut need readjusting after 2000 miles or what?the prop shaft from a 500 sportsman will not work because it is a little bit longer..but a 500 magnum may be the same.

1) You could have hit a big 'whoop' that bottomed out the front end hard enough to 'stretch' things out a little.
2) Normal wear will cause the bearings to get 'loose' over time.
Keep in mind, they only need to be 'loose' by 1/4 to 1/2 a turn before problems can begin to arise.
Also, it was possible to have had them 'gum up' just a little, and by taking them apart, cleaning them off, and putting it all back together, you could have got things back the way they should be.
Actually, now that I had more time to think about it, it was more likely gummed up, than the nut torque, because as the bearings loosen, it is more likely to NOT lock, than lock when it shouldn't, but that is more a rule of thumb than an absolute.
