Can I fit a Automotive speedometor, or Tachometer on my my 2001 Scrambler 400? With the use of a HSP bullet mount? If so, which kind do I use, and is there any other mounts? Thanks!

An automotive tach on the 4-cylinder setting should work on your Scrambler400. I just put one on my 96 300 Xpress. I got it from a local auto parts store for about $50. I tapped into the wire(yellow/red on mine) going to the rev limiter for a signal. I mounted it on my hand made handlebar light bracket so this won't work the same for you.

One thing thou, the automotive tachs weren't meant to be used in the open elements. They do not take kinly to being wet. If you do decide to use an auto motive type, be sure to get a tube of silicone to seal up all the open areas of the tach so that the insides can't get wet.

A tach for a jetski is designed for the elements, but you need to ask someone smarter than me if the firing is right. I do know that most twin cylinder jetski (and SeaDoo, etc) engines have only one coil and fire both cylinders every round, so one is fired when it is near BDC which does nothing for power but is cheaper to do than having two coils.

A boat (I/O or inboard, not outboard) tach should be fairly waterproof as well and you could do the "set it on 4 cylinder" trick. Unfortunately, most boat tachs are fair large in diameter.

Auto tachs aren't designed for the vibrations and beating an ATV takes either, but when you consider you can get a cheapie for $35, it might be worth running one till it breaks and then replacing it every so often.

Polaris sells a digital tach that tells the time. Also, it reminds you when it is time for a service.

I have a brand-new, in the box speedometer setup for a scrambler 400 that I would be willing to part with. I think the only thing missing is the pickup wire that bolts to the brake caliper.

How will an Automotive tach (4 Cylinder Mode) work on my Mojave? We are talking about a standard tach, not digital right? I really want a tach for mine. Also, what wire would I tap into? Please Help!!!
