425 Mag 4x4 problem
#1
A friend of mine has a 425 Mag 4x4 and is having problems with his 4x4 system. 4WD won't always engage when shifted into high or low range. He can engage 4WD if he hits the gear shifter hard; the ATV isn't staying in neutral. I personally haven't seen the ATV in action, any ideas?

As for not staying in neutral, I assume you mean that it is jumping into high? If this is the case, he needs to adjust the shift linkage. Do this by removing the side plastic and adjusting the shifter linkage (bar with double nuts on both ends connecting shifting lever and gearcase). I have heard of machines jumping into neutral from high gear, but never into gear from neutral. As for the AWD question, put the machine into high gear as normal (don't slam it) and put the awd switch on. If the awd doesn't work, try hitting the override switch. If it works now, then the switch on the gear selector is going bad. There is a switch on the gear selector that allows the awd to work. When the machine is in high or low, the switch activates the awd without having to hit the override. When the machine is in reverse, the override must be pressed to make the system work. If this doesn't help, post again and I will look it up in my manual and try to formulate a better answer.

I fixed the link. The link was still to my website at Homestead.com. They started charging like $40 a year for hosting, so I killed my site and just use a yahoo photos page. I tried updating the forum software for my website, but it keeps jumping back to the homestead link.
