I have a hard time understanding the shipping problems, because I buy a lot of stuff from the States. Auto parts in particular are way less expensive to buy from the U.S., and ship up here, than it is to buy the same part in CA.
As an example, I have a 94 Chev CK 1500 4x4, and put a set of tubular exhaust on it. As a result, it leaned out the T.B.I., and to solve that, I had to buy a Adjustable Fuel Pressure Regulator. In Ca., they wanted $150.00 plus 7% tax. I called Summit Racing in Akron, Ohio, and they wanted $65.96 for the same part. I bought it, had it shipped via U.S. Post, and it landed at my door in 5 working days, for a total cost of $109.00 including shipping. Since then, I have purchased numerous things from computer software, to books, to truck parts for a better price than here in Ca.
One more e.g., cause this one blew me away, when I found out the difference in cost. I am going to purchase a set of 64cc Vortec heads for my truck. Here in Ca. they want $1100.00 dollars EACH !!
At Scoggin Dickey in Texas its $399.50 a PAIR, complete head !!! Now, I know that I could get those heads up here for less than $1000.00 including the difference in the dollar & shipping. When I called the guy down there, he almost fell off his chair when I told him how much they wanted for them here.
So, your right Roost King, our Government is giving it to us, right up the Hoop !!

Hi I too live in Canada and like most, I like to save as much money as I can on my purchases. Recently while travelling through upstate New York I stopped at a local Polaris dealership to inquire about the price of a sprocket and chain for my 93 350 Liquid 4X4. I talked to the guy there and I found the price, after figuring the exchange on the dollar was very close to the price I got from my local dealer, therefore I bought it locally. I talked to the dealer and he said that some of the people from around there were going to Canada to but their ATV's (he said that they were mostly Honda buyers) because of the favourable money exchange. I don't know the particulars about duty and such but I find it hard to believe that after all is said and done that it could have saved them much money. I for one am glad that I have a local dealership that I can go to for parts and service or just call for advice on things. I take that into account when making my purchases. Ray
