Electrical Question on Late-Models
#1
On my 99 Magnum 500... it has the digital odometer/tripometer... I am wanting to do some MIG welding on the machine... Do I need to un-plug the wiring to the speedo? What about the ignition/charging system.
I really don't want to fry anything this close to Karnack... Did that last year right before a big mudrun and had to scramble to get one back together..
I know that on vehicles equipped with an MSD ignition system.. you MUST disconnect the box before welding or it won't start afterwards...
Any help is greatly appreciated..... Thanks...

I am no expert on electrical stuff but have done a lot of welding. I would disconnect the battery (-) post and ground your welder as close as you can to the point of weld. We welded a rack on my friends 99 Explorer last week using this procedure and everything worked fine when we were done.
