I want to lighten up my TBlazer, but I don't want to spend money doing it. What can I just take off that wont hurt anything? I have already removed the mudflaps.

Blazer250,

Lightening anything up (from humans to quads) will require some money. You could get rid of the starter, oil injection, steel floorboards, steel handle bars, battery (if you don't run lights) and the steel screws for the plastic (replace with aluminum pop rivets and backers). Total cost, about $100.

Approximately 10.

Ronnn, I went through various catalogs trying to figure out how much weight I could shave off a 400, and came up with around 100LBS, at a cost of about $10 per LB, even including the free stuff like removing floorboards.

Jerry, have you put your bike on a scale since you got it back together?

Can I just remove the battery? I thought that it would ruin something. Or are you talking about that kit thing? And how much weight will all of these things save me?

I'm not into lightening my atv, but on a trailblazer, you could also replace the steel rims with aluminum ones. A full oil tank probably weighs around 4 lbs. Not sure on the battery. You can take off the sprocket protector (metal disk) as well. The flywheel can be shaved down if the starter is removed, and my stock flywheel (Xplorer 400)weighed around 6 pounds. I think advertisements boast shaving 2.3 lbs off the flywheel. This also allows the quad to rev higher. Either which way you go, it will cost $$$. What's bad is that on top of that, you're not going to see real improvements unless you lighten it up alot.

Blazer250 I did have a trailblazer like two months ago and I was thinking about taking the trailblazer and trying to lighten it up I also took off the mudflaps but them back on. but anyways the quad caused me problems and I got rid of it and I ride now a 2001 honda 400ex which I really love. If you do want to lighten it up there is a guy on this forum I think. He has a trailblazer also and he has lighten his up and he said he shaved off it like 200lbs his name is something like "scramblerx" If I remember correctly. if you can find him he could help you out with this. hope this helps you and you find a way to fix it like you want it. later from #1 stunning madmike
