96 explorer 400 The last two days I noticed a large puddle of gas on the floor. I believe it is from the carb. I have removed the carb and didn't find a drain screw near the drain line. There is only a large caver over the jet. Everything looks to be ok. I removed the bottom cover and worked the float a little. It seems to move freely. Any other suggestions would be helpfull. Since I have the carb out I will disassemble and clean. Is it ok to reuse the old gaskets? I don't know if polaris stocks the carb gaskets.

Racing cross country we have this happen alot. A wee piece of dirt gets under the needle and allows it to over fill the bowl. Just disassemble and rinse well in clean gas and reassemble I've used the same bowl gasket a dozen times as long as it dosn't break and don't take it of the carb. Always shut your fuel of when leaving your machine even for a little while. Two stroke motors can fill with fuel and cause hydro-lock ( will not turn over ) not good.

I had the same problem not too long ago, the gas was coming from the overflow, so I took it to the dealer I bought it from. He said he rode it around and couldn't see the gas coming out anywhere! So I took it to the dealer here in town, the one I bought it from was about 30 miles away, and he told me some dirt had gotten in around the float, and when the float moved up and down, it wore, and the float would not seal. He showed me and the float just wobbled in there, my fault, cause it had been doing it for a while, I just didn't fix it for a few months.

If it's minor leakage past the inlet needle it will only leak when the engine is off and the gas is left on. Needle and seat from your dealer is about $30 don't bend the float tabs.
