How much are dealers getting for a SP700 Twin?
#1
I was wondering how much dealers are getting. In our area they are going for $6700 to $7299. Has anyone gotten a good deal on a winch that they are offering? I'm thinking of the 700 with a winch and MudRunners. The stock tires are not too bad, but they aren't MudRunners either which I would like to have over the long haul. The Kawi's are going for $6300 - $6500 - and some are asking full list.
Right now it is gettng down to the Prarie 650 and Sportsman 700. The Yamaha Grizzly 660 is too scarce and their past (Grizz 600) maintenance record is not very good according to my sources. I think a twin is in order anyway. I'm saying bye-bye to one-lungers. You just can't get any parts for the Bombardiers in our area (PA). I've talked to some who have waited almost a month for engine parts.
My concern right now is the clutch on the Kawi. They have a poor record of holding up and I have found that some Kawi atv's locally have had serious clutching problems at 300-400 miles. That is bothersome, particularly when the Kawi dealers don't have a clue as to what is wrong. They are sending them out to get repaired. Remember, this a new beast for the green boys. The only good thing that everyone is saying is their power/performance is exceptional. I have asked several about their "other attributes" and everyone says "what else is there?".
Hmmm . . . I'm buying for longevity and utilitarian performance, and they are talking to me about "high performance". I keep telling them they are not made for that and three dealers so far have told me nothing but "acceleration and performance".
It's no doubt that the SP700 has the "best total package" of all of them. With the Kawi, it's pretty bare bones and you have to get your own tires and wheels. I don't like the SP700 EBS though. It's worse than my SP500, too extreme for me, that's for sure.
So here I go again . . . do I change the SP700 clutching or change the Kawi tires and wheels and hope the clutching holds up. I'm betting others will come up with clutch kits for the Kawi in the near future.
I'm still thinking about driveing a machine out the door and not having to do anything to it . . . but maybe it's just a dream that I'm having . . .

I haven't tried to talk a dealer into a deal yet. $6499 sounds like a good price. The only think I really hate about it is the extreme engine braking.
