I want to adjust the tension on the rear shocks on my 500 but I am wondering if I need a special wrench to do it. Short of taking a big pair of Channel Locks to the adjuster ring what else can I use? Thanks in advance.

Billyclub, you dont have to use a spanner wrench to adjust the rear shocks, channel locks can be used A big set,but I would wrap the jaws with a rag or duct tape to keep from chewing the shock adjuster up.If you are going to adjust them and leave them alone I would think the channel locks would be ok,however if you plan on adjusting regularly I would pick up a spanner wrench from http://www.denniskirk.com/

Billyclub, Check the tool kit that came with the quad. You can find it in your storage compartment under the seat. I have adjusted my shocks. There should be a tool for doing that in your kit. That is what I used.
