Just got my Sport 400L back today. I had a complete rebuild done to the motor.I am planning on using Spectro 2T oil ( 1 Quart because I already have it) mixed at 40:1 untill it is gone. Then I am planning on switching to Amsoil 100:1 (mixed at 80:1) permenantly.Just wanted to see how this sounded to some of you guys. This forum is a big help.

Thanks,
J.Prentice

From what I've been told... You should never switch oil. Once you mix it,That's what you use til' you rebuild.....
Good luck, I hope she pull's strong for you!!!!

Plain old Polaris blue, non-synthetic. Mix at 40:1, I deal with a very high volume Polaris shop, and this is what the mechs there swear by. Leaves less deposits, costs less, and mixes very thoroughly. You can also buy it in bulk at your dealer. Nothing against the others, but 'mo money for mods.

I've used Klotz Techniplate Synthetic premixed @40:1 with sunoco 104 unleaded for quite some time with a 14:1 head. It's a real good combo. Be careful if you switch the ratio of gas to oil as you will have to rejet accordingly since you are actually runnug more fuel which will be richer to your engine. At least that's better than going down to 32:1 which would actually be a leaner mix.

A friend of mine used to wrench for a pro quad rider. They used amsoil and they ended up going through 3 major motor overhauls, then they got wise and switched to maxim and they never had a problem after that. (couldn't tell you exactly what the problem was that they had but they did say that by changing premix it fixed their problem). That was enough of a story for me to try maxim and I haven't had a problem yet. Just my .02

Sounds like lots of bs to me. They probably changed the premix ratio and were actually running too lean. Everyone thinks it's great to run 32:1. Well, I've seen more 32:1 siezures than with any other mix. To say one oil is better than another is purely bs all the way, particularly when the information is not first hand.

Every time you change fuels or pre-mix oils it would be very wise to check the jetting.

I use AMSOIL in everything I own, even before I became a dealer for it. I have heard there may be a bearing lubrication problem in the bottom end but I have never seen this, even in NOS powered T-cats and Mach Zs the bearings looked and felt like the day they were installed.

Just remember every oil and product out there has horror stories or will have eventually.

I just switched over from Klotz Supertechniplate to the 100:1 Amsoil. At this time I'm mixing it 80:1. It smoked some when I ran it, but not any less than the Klotz I was using before. I checked the spark plug electrode and it was a nice tan color. Considering I've never had a tan colored sparkplug electrode since I've owned the machine (they've always been black), I'd say it was lubricating the engine quite well and burning pretty cleanly. Also believe it or not, the higher the ratio mixtures you run, the cooler the motor should run. This doesn't say anything for the lubrication qualities of the oil, but the engine actually uses the gas to cool the piston to a certain extent. I wouldn't reccomend that you try the 80:1 or 100:1 ratios with any oil other than Amsoil. It seems to be some sort of synthetic concentrate. What ever it is it sure runs clean.

Question...If you are premixing your fuel , and putting the mixed fuel in your tank , and not using an oil injector , Why would jetting make a difference in how much oil the engine gets? Just wondering after reading the post about checking the jetting. I installed the jet that came with my rcr stage 1 kit. I am mixing my fuel now at 40:1 per the polaris manual. My scrambler smokes a good bit untill it gets good and warm and then it does not smoke much at all.

Thanks,
J Prentice

Default 2 Stroke Oil

Hey what's up modquad, I got a question. I've always ran Yamalube 2 stroke injector oil in my scrambler. The label says its semi-synthetic, can I mix Polaris Blue with this? I've had my quad since new(2000) w/ no problems with the Yamalube, but have never heard of anyone else using it on this forum. I am afraid to mix semi-syn with the normal blue, got any advice? Thanks man, Craig
