Rifle Boot

One guy I know of modified the mount for the Kolpin boot to sit diagonally across the front rack. The muzzle points forward & to the left, the butt back & right, just above the handlebar. He rides with the butt-cap removed when conditions won't fill the boot with gunk, and has quick access by grabbing the butt with his right hand & yanking it out. It kind of snags on trees & such in that location, though. However, the hard boot DOES do a fair job of protecting the gun, and he usually carries the cap to the boot in his rear cargo box, and installs it if it starts to rain or snow, protecting the gun as well as anything will.
I just got a Kolpin boot, with the quick-release mount. I may (or may not) get a second mount and modify it to hold the boot like his. That way, if I am headed through some trees or something, I can move the whole boot to the side in just a minute or two if I have to.
