Clutch guard heat

My brother found the key to my Scrambler and had some fun on it this past week. It seems like something might be wrong with the clutch, but I am also very paranoid about the quad. Today while riding, I noticed the clutch guard was getting got. I can't remember if it has alway done that or not. Does anybody eleses do that?

Since you have the 500, your clutch cooling outlet is already the larger one. Just some things I might suggest checking:
1) Make sure your cooling inlet isn't obstructed. This is under the nose piece. Just lift on the nose and it will pop off.
2) Pull your clutch cover off to inspect the belt for glazing and general component condition.
3) With the belt off, you can take some brake-cleaner on a clean shop towel and wipe both your primary and secondary faces of the clutches (the surface where the belt contacts. You can also use a little scotchbrite, or fine emery-cloth and scuff the surfaces, wiping them off with the brake-clean afterwards.
4) With compressed air you should periodically blow out your clutches (try not to breath the dust)
5) Your local dealer might borrow you there clutch alignment tool, or one is available from Hot Seat Performance. (hotseatperformance.com)
These are just some basics. I don't know your level of expertice, so my apologies if you already know this.
