SP 700 owners:
#13
I have never driven one but this is what i know-
1)best friend is local Polaris mechanic and is tired of doing continious updates on that model.
2)Most magazines loved that machine, rated it #1
3)Yesterday on ATV Televsion, they aired the big rig shoot out on the outdoor channel. The guy with the beard (the host)said that the 700 was the worst handling, poorest built 4x4 to date. It had the most hype and did not come close to their expectations and would not recomend it to anyone. The new 4x4 system makes it squirrly, and caused one tester to run off the road for no reason. He went off a cliff or something and broke his leg. They said buy it if you must have the biggest cc 4x4 available. But if you want a good qaud buy something else. As far as the Polaris line up is concerned, buy the 500HO, as it's proven quad and serious competition, for the other brands 650's and such. (handling wise, the power is down, but that's to be expected) They felt the 700 was too much of a gimmick right know, and needs lots of refinement to be a real competitor against the other big bore 4x4's.
Don't get mad at me, that's just what I saw on TV. I couldn't believe it either cause these things, according to the mags and some of your own reviews, they are nice machines. With the exception of my mechanic friend, who happens to hate the damn things.

My two cents worth
Had mine for 3 mo now with 300+ miles on it. I have rolled it once, had it stuck in 21/2 feet of water, got stupid one day and did some jumping got over 5 feet of air, not a smart thing to do with a 750 pound machine. Towed a chevy Tahoe 1 mile, hit a deer doing 30, hit my dog doing 20 (he is ok) had a 25 foot oak tree fall and land on the rear rack. After all that I have had 5 minor problems that my dealer had them fixed in one hour.
