Back in 1996 the Sportsman 500 took the crown of the big bore monsters. In 1997 it held on to it's crown. In 1998 it's crown was on the line again but the 500 won becoming the "King of the 4x4s", in 1999 it held on to it's crown. In 2000 the Sportsman 500 was still the King of the 4x4s...2001 the Sportsman 500 became the sportsman 500 H.O, and in 2002, the king of the 4x4s put on a new scary face and became the SPORTSMAN 700 TWIN!!! It took ATV of the year award and won ATV magazines Monster Big Bore shootout! Need I say more?

Let's hope it doesn't win "King of Breakdowns", as most Polaris utilities seem to in the past.

Yah,
im with you.King breakdown is more suitable for a Polaris Utility ATV.Good thing the ATV mags dont look at past reliability issue's with an ATV before they give it a crown,or Polaris would NEVER have a chance to win.My 99 Sportsman and my current 00 Xplorer are ALLWAYS in the shop for some defective part.Even though Polaris does offer the customer more features for the $$,them features do you NO GOOD while its sitting in the shop for repairs.Cant wait to get rid of my Polaris ATVs.

Why is it that when we get a post saying something good on here, it can never stay that way?

I have a 97 Sportsman and I havent had any problems with it besides the stupid thigs I did to it that no quad would have withstood. and I havent seen a quad that can beat my 97 Sportsman, well except for the new class of 4x4's, Im sure that they are quite impressive.

Quadfather, your quad could be the Limited Slip 3wd four-wheeler of the year

That's true. And although I never had a single problem with my Sport, I have had to perform surgery on every one of my buddies hubs that owns a 4X4 Polaris.

Well it may be true for some polaris people, I got buddies who have been riding polaris for 10 years with not one single hub problem, but I guess some people have trouble and others dont. Also dont get my wrong on your 400ex, that will be my next purchase for a fourwheeler, they are awesome and reliable machines!!

Offrder15,

Based on the opening post,a new rider could think that Polaris makes the very best Utility 4x4 ATV on the market?Thats Ok,however,it is not wrong for someone like myself to also talk about the bad experiences I've had with my two Polaris ATVs.You have to take the GOOD with the Bad sometimes too.

This is the best Polaris bash to date! Every Polaris, except the one I own, is not made made very well. I have about 1500 miles on my Scrambler 4x4 and have had to replace several items: Gas, oil and tires. The hubs still work fine but I let off of the gas before I switch it to 4wd. I say "LONG LIVE THE KING OF 4X4s".
