I want to know if anyone has any info on how to install a tachometer and if it is possible. If you know where to get a cheap tach and info on how and where to hook it up please respond. I would appreciate anything you can tell me. Thanks.

 

Yes.

Go to your Briggs & Stratton dealer, or to a power mower/lawn equipment/chain saw store, and buy a "tiny tach" (about $ 40).

These little goodies provide an hour-meter, alarm at 25 and 100 hour intervals, and a digital readout; the only "connection" is about four wraps of bell wire around your spark plug cable for inductive pickup of the spark impulse.

Westach is only one of the few I know to be able to pick up 6 pulses per rev that is required on the Polaris 500 engine that is reasonable in cost.

 

Can you tell me the address or website of the company so I can order one? Did you order from the company or go to a store to get it? Also does it come with good instructions or do you just hook it up to a few wires? Does it hook into the spark plug wire or into some wires under the headlight cowling? Sorry for all the questions but I would really appreciate the help from someone who knows and I have been looking for a long time for a tach like this. Thanks guys!!
