Just a thought,if Polaris has sold six times more atvs than all other manufacturers combined, then doesn't it make sense that they should be allowed to have six times the number of breakdowns and still be on par with the other manufacturers in terms of reliability?Yes there are alot of Polaris that have breakdowns but look at the amount of them out there. If things were so bad everyone sold would be breaking down and you wouldn't see anywhere near the amount of satisfied customers that there are.I think if you looked at things in percentage terms(number of breakdowns per number of atvs sold)things wouldn't seem near as bad.

<< Honda's have been very reliable I think mainly due to the simplicity of there atv's. >>

I'll agree with that statement. I've only owned one Polaris. It was one of those 3 chain models. It nickel and dimed me to death. The maintenence was more than just greasing zerk fittings. It seemed like I was always replacing a sprocket or chain or strut, etc. However I must say that the features and ride were very nice. And even though it was keeping my wallet empty, I never had to walk home because of a breakdown.
I hear that the newer Polaris models are more reliable compared to the older ones.

I belive the new one would have to be better.
No 3 chain drive anymore. All 4x4 are shaft drive up front
The Steering problems were solved in 2001 Models. (Bearing at bottom post, Thicker post , and improved Tie rods.)
Concentric Drive on Rear Chain Drive.(Stop Chain Beakage and Sprocket wear.)
Improved brakes on 2001 Models (Steel Braded Lines and Drilled Rotors)

Once again
Polaris has Sold SIX time more AUTOMATIC atvs than all other manufactures combined.

There doing something right.

MAYBE

That is why I bought mine.

I really do miss the Manual labor too.

Maybe someday I will learn, and then I can get the extra exercise with my Foot on those all day rides. NAAAAAAAAAAA

Another thought,Maybe there is no clutch so you never loose you grip for holding on.

Don't mean to butt in but I got to say I'm impressed with the lack of brand bashing in this post. Generally, I ride with a bunch of 500SP, 700SP and other Polaris machines (I ride a 375 Cat) and have to say the brand bashing out on the trail is all in good fun. After seeing Sportsmans run flawlessly when the Cat was having trouble and vise versa leads me to this conclusion: They all are great when running, and they all are crap when broken down. Happy ridding.
