Problems with 500HO
#11
As DUSE requested,
I had a 99 500cc Sportsman and now own a new 00 400cc Xplorer.BOTH ATVs gave me so many problems that I cant wait to get rid of my current Xplorer.Everything from leaking hub seals, clutch problems, tie rod ends, steering stem bushings, swing arm bushings,A-arm bushings, driveshafts,a gear shifter that would'nt go into gear, ect.Polaris does have more inovative features than alot of its competition, but it also has more problems to.
Best luck with WHATEVER ATV you choose, even a Polaris.

They are the early Titan 589's....and are on the stock wheel's.... so its a 10" rim and a 12" wide tire....I am very happy with these and am looking into a bigger set if ITP 589's and some C-Series wheels....send me a PM if you need more info..

<< Bill you forgot all your mods.... >>
(clutch kits, pipe, reeds, oversized tires, snow plow, mud bogging, etc. etc.
Not to mention all of the power washing and snow plowing
Didn't he fail to mention that he also works for Honda?

In my experience, if you maintain them like you should, they hold up well.
It is just a matter of taking the time to grease it every now and again, plus changing the hub fluid 2 times a year. That alone would cut about 75% of the complaints of premature wear.
One other thing, if you put big heavy tires on them, and I mean big as in oversized, and heavy as in 6 ply, watch the lower a-arm bolts. I have seen a few broken, but EVERY one of them has been ridden VERY aggressively with oversized tires. More aggressive tires (like 589s) don't seem to matter as much as their being oversized.
Great machines, though. No they aren't perfect, but neither is anything else out there. As good as any, though.
