I recently brought my 00 500 Sportsman in to the shop, again, for an overheating problem. Seems the cooling fan was seized, and the head gasket was blown. Then they tell me that I hit something in front and busted the suspension up. He noticed my HIghlifter lift in front and said that was causing stress on the suspension. I told him I installed the kit about 3 weeks ago, and have never hit anything to my knowledge. He said that is why I have a speed problem??!! He says the axles are working against each other causing friction, never heard of that one before. So they want to charge me a couple of hundred bucks to fix the front suspension, and the head gasket and fan are on warranty. You'd think everything would be covered on a 3 month old machine. I am not through with this one yet, if I don't get any satisfaction from Polaris or the dealer, I'm just going to take the lift kit off, drop it off at the dealer, and tell him he can have it back. I got a 6 month interest free loan from Polaris, so I'll let them take care of it. I have yet to pay a cent on it, and thats the way its going to be. I know I'm acting a bit hostile and venting on this forum, but this is one Polaris that is a lemon, and us consumers need not be bothered with factory problems.

Been there, done that. Left my lift kit on when i took in my 2 week old 00 SP550 for front 2 new front cv-joints. It cost me abot $700 out of my pocket to repair it. I called polaris directly to dispute the case. They said since the lift kits were not authorized polaris parts, and since they changed the drive train angle, my warranty was void....

You really can't blame Polaris for taking that position. If you installed a lift on your truck and then blowed out drive components, the service manager at your truck dealer will tell you the same thing. If not then Polaris would be paying alot of repair bill for any one who makes a 12" lift for there quads and wonders why the joints keep going bad. I had Jeeps(CJ-5s) before I started quaddin', all of them lifted and I had to replace alot of rear driveshaft u-joints. Its the price I paid for putting lifts on them,Just my 2 pennies.
