We have a 2000 Scambler 400 2wd. I need a repair manual, and I was looking at the Clymer manuals. I notice they have one for all models up to 1998, and another for the newer Scrambler 500 4wd. I need the manual for working on the transmission (not the clutches, but the gearbox that has the chain sprocket coming out.) I would like to know if the 4wd Scramblers have the same rear gearbox as the 2wd units, or if the older (pre 1998) units have the same gearbox as our 2000 model. This way I could decide which of the Clymer manuals to buy for my needs.

Also, have you checked the dealer offered manuals? The Biggin' one that I have covers all makes for a specified time, and I think it was around $45-50. Helped out many friends besides bailing myself out many times. Just a thought.
