For some reason or another the one size colder spark plug works better with the higher compression heads. I think it has something to do with keeping pre-ignition doen to a minimum by getting rid of heat. I started running one in my quad last summer and the fan never kicked on once as opposed to the BR8ES I used to use. >>
The colder spark plug doesn't make the engine run cooler. It has more electrode material to sink the heat away and preventing it from becoming a hot spot in the engine. If this happens, you get preignition/detonation, which is more common in higher compression engines.

Yep...got the Wiseco piston. Blew a base gasket so the cylinder had to come off to replace it. Whoever owned it before me must of had some engine trouble because it had a .020 over Wiseco in it.
Anyway...I am going to buy the cylinder head and install Delta 2 V-Force reeds and spacer at the same time. I might as well since the fenders come off to install the head, the carb might as well come off too. Thanks guys.

The HSP head works fine. The gasket is not problem with pressures up to 175 lb or so. The girdle is certainly not needed, don't waste $$$. The B8EVX plug works quite well with this setup. General rule with these heads is not to go with wild race-type porting. It's not needed and only causes problems unless you are in a win at any cost situation. Mid-range porting is all you need. You will get improved cooling ability and have no problems if installed correctly. I ran the 14:1 dome for 3 years with no problems at all. Whatever you run make sure you use the correct fuel. I believe you need to run 92+ with the 12:1 and 104+ with the 14:1.

Yes, you will have to get a new head gasket. It uses the same type as the OEM. Any Polaris shop should have one. I wouldn't reccomend using the old one. There are tricks you can do to the old gasket, but it's always better to replace it with a new one.
Just make sure you install the gasket properly. The gasket can be put on wrong and the machine could melt down.
