A friend bought my wifes trail boss last year and now it is acticg funny. At first it would not idle at all and I traced it to the thummb throttle. Over the years it developed slop in it and was hitting the little switch in the throttle housing causing it to die. I bent the arm just a little and know it purrs like a kitten except when it is put in reverse. It will die unless you push the reverse override in. With the override is pushed in it idles fine but when you let off the overide it dies. Not really a big deal cause he said it is ok but I would like to know for myself. Any ideas. Also when I sold it I put new chain and sprockets on it. He said something was making a lot of noise in the back. Looked at the sprockets and the front ome had no teeth at all and the back one looked brand new with just normal wear and the chain even looked good. The teeth were not broken just wore down. Never seen this before. Anyone else got any ideas or had any of these same things happen to them?

Thanks
Ronnie

My suggestion as to your idle and reverse problem is check your throttle cable. I would bet the cable is strecthed (I had this happen to me). This causes your arm to hit the switch and the throttle to be slightly open, and makes the rev limiter shut it down. I also stripped the front sprocket. This is due to running the chain too tight. Remember to fully compress the suspension when you check tension.
