There's a factory service manual on ebay for $20 dollars, the dealer wants $40 but I was wondering if the Clymer's are any better or is it like auotmotive service manuals the aftermarkets are not even in the same league w/h the oem's Thanks, Scott

I like the factory service manuals better. At least for my Kawasaki anyway. The factory manual is more indepth and more specific then the Clymers.

I'd say the Polaris service manual is the way to go. Picked it up for $30 or so at the dealer --I've heard the Clymer's is pretty vague at points.

I use both. The factory has better written directions while the Clymer has better pictures to help go by.

I bought the Polaris Service manual for $30 that's the only one I could find. It seems to be good. I have not seen the Clymer’s.

I bought the Polaris Manual for my SCR 500 4X4 when I gernaded my tranny. I figured they would have the most detailed information for fixing it myself. As it turns out I have more broken parts than the cost of a complete tranny so I won't need to reassemble the old one. I was very dissapointed with the detail in the OEM manual. There were no measurement specs for anything! All together there were only about 10 pages on disassembly and 2 on reassembly. The book was NOT written for rebuilding major components. On the other hand, my buddy's Clymer manual for his 400 Sportman has got everthing in it to tear down the tranny, check every component and then reassemble it.

OK, I looked thru the oem manual I got & some of you were right,it is a bit vague in places, especially about the tranny but in others it is very good,so I've decided ( being the genius that I am) That I'll just get both! I basically got the Polaris manual for 1/2 what it should so I'm not out a whole lot buying both. Thanks for ALL the replies That was my 1st post here I think,(remember I'm a genius!thinking is what I do!)Scott
