I have a 97 scrambler 400 4x4. It will not engage in reverse in 2wd, but it will in 4wd. I replaced the clutch buttons and that wasn't it like the dealer thought it may be. Any ideas?

I was just told that if you haven't already, you need to look at all of the connections at the reverse overide. Make sure that none of the wires have worked themselves loose. Also check under the hood for any loose connections coming off the board and the ones connected to the indicators. Sometimes if you cover any of these connections with mud, they can give you problems. It may just be a corroded connection too. It does sound like a possible electrical problem now that you know the buttons aren't to blame and assuming your belt is good.
