TrailBlazer - Engine mods complete
#1
On monday the big brown ups truck dropped off a box of quad parts for my trailblazer. I had the cylinder ported & bored, carb bored, and head machined all by Ritter. Along with buying a new wiseco piston. The whole engine was back together in about 2-2.5 hours and started on the first try. I'm glad it runs again, been down for a little more than a month.
And, while the engine was out I upgraded the puny stock coil to a MSD blaster 2 that was left over from a previous truck.
There is one small problem though, at idle the engine will rev much higher than usual. Almost to the point where it would affect shifting. The jets in the carb now are (as recomended by RCR) 210 main jet and a 40 pilot jet. It seems like the pilot jet is way off or there is a kink in the cable. Any other possible causes?

Nitro,
Just make sure you check your cable end where it fastens to the needle valve on the top of the carb. I installed different jets and moved the needle clip and I didn't get my cable end fastened correctly. It idled about 300 rpm's faster then it should have and I couln't get it back down. Just something to check.

Thanks for the suggestions.
Today I re-routed the throttle cable over the tank and adjusted the slack out of it. The head bolts were retorqued a few days back. And, the jets have been changed to a 160 main and 45 pilot. The jetting really hepled out with response.

Make sure you do some jetting runs. Not sure if you know, but with the porting and other mods. Start slow, and work your speed up towards full throttle, stablilizing for at least 1/4 mile and chopping with the kill switch.
Have fun!!
