Yakima Roof Rack Converted to ATV Use
#1
Hey, if anybody is interested, I just rigged up a way to carry two mountain
bikes on my 2000 Sportsman 500. It's pretty slick, I used some old Yakima
roof rack bike mounts and a modified cross-bar that they are mounted on. I
attached it to my rack, and now I can carry two bikes sideways behind my
rear rack, and I still have the entire rear rack for gear. It is really
sturdy, and I'm thinking it'll work great. I'm going to Moab in a few
weeks, and want to be able to have the option of parking the quad and biking
if the mood strikes me. If your interested, reply here and I'll try to
explain in more depth, or I could just upload a picture of the thing that
would probably explain it all.
I suppose I could also use the ski mounts that I have to carry my guns
for hunting as well, or any other standard roof rack accessories.
