I have a 2001 HO and when I hit the starter button the starter doesn't always engage.I was going to pull off the recoil cover and check out the starter and bendix spring.Anybody with the same problem?
Do I need a new gasket for the recoil housing when I re-assemble it.

Try jumping the battery and see if it starts then. You should measure your voltage with no drain and with the starter button engaged.

 

Clean all your conections on the batrry and the starter relay.If that dont work jump around the relay before tearing into the starter.
