Load of dirt, what to build?
#1
I am having a full sized dumptruck bring a full load of dirt to my house. I have a course laid out I have been working on for a while now, the spot for the jump is already planned out. But the question is, what should I make? Will a full load of dirt be enough to make a decent sized jump?
There is a pretty big pile of brush (stumps, logs, branches, bushes, etc) all pushed into a pile right in the middle of my track. I am thinking about having the dumptruck just unload the dirt right on top of that brush pile. The brush pile will allow me to make a bigger jump with less dirt, thats my plan anyway.
Has anybody do anything like that before? How did it work? What should I build? I was thinking something like a table top, but I dont know if I will have enough dirt... i am not sure how far a load of dirt will go.
I have a scrambler wich isnt really made to be the biggest airborn machine around, so I dont want to make 40' doubles. Something that I can get some pretty big air on, but not break anything (including myself). I am new to ATVs, thats why I am thinking table top... fun, and safer than doubles, plus a table top would provide a landing area.. where as a single would mean going high, but laning on flat ground (thats bad, right?).
Thanks for any info!

Do yourself a favor and keep it to a small double, like 6 feet. Rocks and logs are ok mixed in but bushes will weaken the structure. If you go much bigger It wont be fun on the Scrammy. Besides if its stock it weighs to much. Rider skill has a lot to do with size and a few cubic yards should be plenty.

I have two small jumps on my track. One is a table top. It
used 2 loads of just dirt. I'd say its about 24" high and
6-8 feet long and 48" wide. It can be jumped and cleared
for most with some practice. I also have a small ramp type
jump. I covered 2 large logs with dirt. Its also about 24"
too the highest part but it has a steep approach angle. You
can get some pretty good air of that one but nothing scary!
