I've got the Super Duty Drive belt from HPD. They claim it
has less slip and generates less heat than stock belts.
Maybe at some point the 700 belt might be worth a try!

Moquad, I also have the 4 stroke plastic but unlike your
400 my 250 has its PVT air intake routed up in front of
the gas tank. I'm not much for riding in water so I've
also cut a small 1 1/2 round hole big enough to put in a
louvered soffet vent. Since its louvered I have the louvers
pointed so when outside air hits it, the air is directed
down the intake port. The 400's don't have this piece of
plastic that the 250's have. My brother, who has a 400
and has the same 4 stroke plastic as us, is working on
an adapter for his fan to be placed just ahead of the intake
port. We just started on this project so I don't have any
details yet!

How long before you get your Predator?

Talon, I had the 700 belt on for 3 rides, then toasted it. I don't think it's capable of holding up to the high rpm/hp. Ended up going back to the HPD Kevlar (already had one, gonna try Bubba's idea of going straight through Gates). Cool info.

I don't think that this is as much a clutch problem as it is an engine problem. The 400 Xplorers make way more power than your modded 250 and they don't have any problems. The problem is that once the motor is heat soaked it doesn't make the some power as it did cold, this will alway be a problem with an air cooled 2 stroke. The fan kit blowing on the cylinder may help but once the crankcase is hot its tough to regain the cold performance. To compensate for this try more preload in the secondary.

You may be right but it doesn't hurt to check it out anyway.
Actually my modded 250 does not have that noticable
belt slip. Its my stock TB. I'm just trying this fan thing on my 99 TB
because all the right pieces have been removed and its easier to work on.
So with the fan added I have more air going into the PVT and more air
blowing out on top of the head for better cooling!

Its not the motor loosing power cuz i can take the clutch cover off and run it without it for hours (DANGEROUSE)and the clutch wont slip. But when you put it back on and it starts to hold the heat then it slips. And most of you guys are mistaken about the tube that comes off the top of the clutch cover. It is not an intake its an exhaust. It aids in heating up the head quicker.A tube would have to be mounted to the front underside of the cover for it to suck in cool air cuz of the way the clutch turns.I was also told to that if i put in heavier weights this would make the clutch grab better and hold.

Yes, I do know that the top tube is the outlet and blows
right on top of the cylinder head. Yes, bigger weights will
probably help just like the mods that I did to mine helped
my 99TB. I just think that cooling the PVT is a possible
answer!

I never said it wasnt possable. It is possable.I was not referring to you about the tube on the top.But some guys think that is an intake tube.Everyone has good ideas about cooling the PVT,someone just needs to perfect it so everyone can benefit from it.
