The dealer in my area has the 02 700 for 5999 and the 03 700 at 6266 do you guys think that the extra 300 is worth it? I think they only have the black and silver. How does that black hold up I would think it would show the scratches alot more. The lighter colors seem to clean up better.

I don’t pass along hearsay info without a disclaimer so be warned this statement doesn’t come from personal experience. Some on the forums have stated that the fronts of the rear black fenders look awful after a period of time, especially if they have someone riding double so the backs of their legs rub on the fenders. Apparently the “base” color of the plastic is whitish, at least compared to the black, and when the black wears or scratches through it’s really a mess.

If you do any brush bustin’, like we do occasionally, the fronts of the rear fenders seem to take the worst beating of all the plastic. I’ve applied the camo cloth tape on my RSE and the wife’s DUSE in these areas to protect them. I applied it a little late on my first RSE so it was installed on our two current machines before they hit the trail. It’s been on there two years now so it’s very resilient. Peel that cloth tape off and it’s perfect underneath. Sure helps the resale value.
