Got a chance to be "bothered" by a Minneapolis Star & Tribune newspaper rep at the State Fair. I asked him why I would want an anti-ATV newspaper delivered to my house. (MN residents remember the anti-atving article...still posted on my computer room wall). He stood and stared in total confusion. A couple of others heard this comment and began to snicker.....and he didn't like that!!! I kinda loitered around for a chance to give him time to voice a comment...but none came.

Now this morning, I was "bothered" again by a Star & Tribune phone salesperson. I politely told them I switched to buying the St. Paul paper, because they aren't against ATV's. Once again, I patiently waited for a reply....none came. I told her freedom of speech is a wonderful thing that the papers have....and freedom to disagree and spend my money on a different paper is also a wonderful thing.....once again, no return comment.

Boo-yah !!!!
wish I could have seen that,I still get clenched fists when I think about that 3 day tirade that paper went on about "when atv's take to the trails, mother nature pays the price" I have never seen such a one-sided slanted bunch of k-rap in my life. Too bad a senior rep or some other higher-up board member wasn't there,it would have been nice to hear them try to explain how they came up with all their "information" and carefully staged photos. Way to go,modquad !!!

Bartlett,

If I was you, I would wait till they come by, and take a ride down there with my .45 or 12 gauge, and tell them they have two choices, they can leave by riding there bikes off the track, or leave in a body bag.
I dont mind when someone on an atv, or hunting wonders onto my land, I even get turned around down there myself, but when they mouth me when I tell them they are trespassing, or they tear things up, then I get pi$$ed.
If they dont leave, the sheriff escorts them off, or they leave running when I bring down my baby (marine addition pistol grip 12 gauge
It is a shame is has to come to this, but I dont stand for people giving us a bad name, or back talking.
I give them a chance, I am nice at first, but they only get once chance.
Most people are decent enough, and say they are sorry and leave, but occasionally you get one that likes to put up a fight.
Those are the ones I can't stand.

weather its your land or not guys you dont have the right to be threatening people with guns. Post your land if someone tresspasses let the sherriff handle it. Eventually you might run into one who also has a gun and gets scared by your gun and shoots first. I would hope we are more civilized then this.

Some REALLY good points. Those harescrablin' skills must've made his eyes bulge. I too have a few buds who've gone off trail before...on state land, not private, but that doesn't make it any less severe. As always, it's the few ruining it for the many. It's sad when people disregard the signs. My folks have quite a bit of land by Roseau, and I've been there when there's been problems....mostly deer hunting. Respect, and courtesy go a long way.

On a lighter note, up at the cabin this last weekend, I had a chance to gab with the main organizer of this coming springs ATVAM convention. Gonna be held in the BOOMING town of Outing, MN. Small as it may be, there's some big hearts, and some even bigger levels of ambition. They have this thing planned out sooooo well, I think It's gonna cover all of Cass County. This group, the Over The Hills Gang, went from no club, and being threatened by enviro-*****, to the second largest club in the state in under 2 years.

Kinda like a new generation who has forgotten about not littering....mainly on my front yard, I think we need to educate. I shouldn't just pinpoint the younger, cause I guess I've seen my share of the older bein' bad also. I hope we can get as organized as the sledders, so we can all enjoy many years of riding in the future.....oops switched back to the heavy subject.hehe

BartlettRacing,

I completely see your point, and I applaud you for your non-violent approach. One of our true enemies are the few A-holes out there who figure having an ATV gives them the right to ride anywhere, anytime. Or that an open-core race pipe sounds "cool",no matter how many complaints he gets from fellow trail riders. Or,my favorite, the guy who thinks he has the right to make a new trail any where he wants,no matter what he tears up along the way. These give the tree huggers all the ammo they need to fight us,and even turn us against our own, because responsible riders pay the price for the uncaring buttplugs that figure they have unlimited access to the whole outdoors once they swing a leg over the seat. Sorry about the situation at your place,I hope you find a way to resolve it without a permanent closure, sounds like a nice area you have set up.

When I was doing a little test and tune sesson the other day, I had the db meter out. A couple of guys came buy, and we wonderin' what was up. Just for kicks we measured the Raptor he was riding....est 1/2 throttle, if my memory serves me right it was 115db. There was another guy rippin around, from a distance of 40 feet, I was getting 105 db readings from a 400 EX. Here I was proud to get mine down to 98db. Quieter means more area to ride!!!

Guys, you're pissed at the wrong people Know who you should be pissed at? ATVAM. Our State ATV association should fight like heck and pull out all the stops when it comes to protecting our right to ride. Instead, they agreed and supported the new law.
