I have added a K&N filter and jet kit, and my dealer says a pipe and clutch kit on the 500 won't do much. The advertisements I've seen say the pipe will add 4-5 hp. Do the pipes really make a difference, and which one is best for the 99 Scambler? Hotseat, HPD, RCR, other?

Go with the HPD pipe and aggresive clutch kit. It'll make give you a big boost in performance (or so i've heard) ! guy said his HPD piped and clutch kit can beat a 400ex and another guy said it made a huge diffrence. And they doo make an honest 4 1/2 hp gain. I'd go for it if i were you.

Another question- is the HotSeat pipe any good for the Scrambler 500. What im really looking for is a good pipe that will add power without being too loud. Dont really like some of the pipes ive heard-just too loud. Are there any worthwhile pipes that arent loud?? Also, can i get a power increase with just adding a pipe and not a clutch kit?

Stay away from the hotseat pipes, they are junk. FMF used to make the megamax muffler and it added alot of power and you could make it really quite but they stopped making it And yeah if your going to get a pipe you need to get a clutch kit that matches that pipe. Don't mix together mods from diffrent companies. A clutch kit will prolly make you faster than a pipe. Aeen makes a roller clutch that i hear works very well but there muffler is only so-so.
Almost any pipe you buy, on any quad, is going to be louder than stock.

I have never actually clocked mine, but everything I've seen says 65-67 stock. I'll clock mine with GPS after the mods and post the results.

Hey just wanted to ask if you have gotten the HPD pipe and clutch yet. If you haven't, be sure to tell us when you do, and let us know how it performs. And if you can try to find some bikes to drag. A guy on Extreme ATv said he raced a Sport with an FMF fatty pipe and silencer with Holeshot XCTs and beat him by about 5 bike lengths at the end of 100 or 150 yards.
