Replaced my tie rod ends on my 425 expedition after 850 KM. I must say Polaris tie rod ends are about the worst in the ATV world. Polaris would not pay for the labor but they paid for the parts. They gave me the new and improved tie rod ends which they say are far superior. Any comments would be appreciated on the new tie rod ends. This is the first problem I have had and it is a minor one. You would think Polaris with there state of the art quads could build a tie rod end that could at least last longer than 6 months.

What is a tie rod end anyway? Is it only on 4X4's?

It's the "thing" (rod) that goes from the steering shaft to the top of the spindle and connects them together so that you can steer. Every quad has them, and I've never had ANY probs with either of mine (either quad that is). So, what exactly is happening to the Polaris tie rod ends? What year quads?

I bought a new 2000 2x4 scrambler and it also has the new tie-rod ends. I could see this new system working but the rubber case isn't really sealed to well onto the rod. also How do you grease the damn things. I bought expensive polaris grease (grease gun style cylinder) for the zeke fittings and I would like to use it for the tie-rod ends too. I pulled back the rubber case and it doesn't look like the factory puts too much grease in them. I was thinking about using plastic ties to properly seal the rubber case to the rod and then putting the grease in a squeeze tube with a caulk-like tip on it and then just injecting it into the rubber casing. That's just my two-cents.

If you are interested go back approx 14 days and check out a thread called "The fix is in". It's all about Polaris Heim joints and ball joints. Lots of good info.
