This is from DW mag. "Polaris claims this new high-performance motor pruduces about 52hp at the countershaft which filters down to around 45hp at the rear wheels, which is just above the Cannondale and Raptor's numbers."
So by these numbers and what the Predator is doing in the races it enters(winning them), I would say they must be close.

Well, the only race I've heard of it winning was the WI State Champ., with the only pro rider in the class aboard it. I'm not knocking the machine, but that figure is not "just above" the Rappy and Cannon., it's quite a bit higher. The Rappy and Cannon. are around 32-35 stock. I'm really with Roostking on this, I'll believe it once I see it. If the figures are true, though, WOO-HOO! Just raises the bar, yet again. Sweet. However, I won't be a bit surprised if the production units arn't up quite that high. Just have to wait and see!

These are the races the Predator has won in a short time.
Rath has raced on the Predator at several Midwest events in the two months since the revolutionary sport quad was introduced. In that short time, he and the Predator have earned victories at the Brookston (MN) Motocross, in the Open and Pro classes at the Little Falls (MN) Motocross, in the Cross-Country Quad A class at the legendary Millville (MN) motocross track, and at the Wisconsin State Quad Championships.
I don't know what the compition was, but in 2 months the Predator is making it's mark.
As far as the HP numbers, could not tell how acurate they are, just going by what I read. But when I get mine, I will see how it does. My brother has a Z-400, so I should be able to get some real comparison soon.

Hi all
Interesting discussion. I've owned Polaris' before, so I have to admit i'm a bit apprehensive. I do believe polaris could make an engine with that type of horsepower, but the engine isn't made by polaris, it's made by Fuji. I doubt Fuji can make an engine that is supposedly (HP) comparable with the Yam yzf450. Polaris may have something with the PRO steering, but it is a somewhat large and heavy machine... like the others said, i'll believe the engine hype when i see it. i guess i just don't have that much faith that fuji could build such an engine. ...but here's keeping my fingers crossed! better machines is always a good thing. it's too bad the manufacturers have gotten away from 2 strokes.

There will be no comparison between a Z and a predator.
Polaris (FUJI) engines have always put out very HIGH HorsePower. They just put the power in heavy machines.
I could continuously beat a Z or KFX overall at the dunes.
And as stated, I could not take a predator.
I still feel Polaris would be crazy to be out showing off Modified machines. If and when people purchase production units, should they loose performance in comparision it will be in black and white. They have Ads saying these machines to be near 50HP. If they are not polaris could be forced to RECALL due to not meeting adverticed specs. Ford had to do it on Mustang just a few years ago
