325 Magnum Help!!! We can't keep running!!!
My wife has 02 Magnum 325. Usually it runs great, but recently we are having trouble keeping it running. I have put in a new spark plug, changed the oil, put stabilizer in the gas for possible moisture, and tried adjusting the idle. The air filter is clean. It has only been ridden 20 hours. It will run fine while idleing in and out of gear until you try and go anywhere!!! After you stop from riding for a while, it just dies while you are trying to shift into reverse or just idle. It always starts back up easily, and it runs great while you are moving. The stopping is the problem. Any ideas. We are only 1 month out of warranty and have little faith in our service department, a John Deere Dealer, since they couldn't even fix our snowblower!!!

Mine was doing the same thing (325 Trailboss), so I took it in and the mechanic said the idle was too slow. He adjusted the idle and it's been fine ever since. He said that the idle is difficult to get just right on the 325 because you have to get it good and hot before you set it. I guess they just don't take the time at the dealer when putting them together/checking them out. On the clutch side of the quad, take the side panel off and look on the bottom side of the carb. There is a thumb screw. Turn this until your idle comes up to a satisfactory rpm(can't remember which way), and then try it. I'll bet that is what's wrong with it. I had a freind with an 02 Mag that did the same thing.

ok my 02 magnum 500 used to die when you let of the throttle (the ETC is kicking in and killing it cus the cable is too loose) this hapens during break in when your cable stretches out just...there is an adjuster on the cable up by the handlebars, just loosten the jam nut and tighten it up then tightnen the jam nut up to that ok........maybe that works for yah......hopfully it is that instead of something harder...

325 Magnum Help!!! We can't her keep running!!!
We have had a problem that is similar since we bought my wife's Magnum 325. It is really hard to start at times, though I have figured out a "system" to get it started. Even when it starts, usually somebody has to hold a little idle on it with the throttle, even in warm weather, but especially in cold weather.
After that, the engine will hold its own idle fine, and will idle just as pretty as you please.
So, is there a "cold" idle screw, or maybe choke adjustment, because the choke has to be wide open pretty much until it is warm. Even 1/2 choke isn't good enough until very close to warmed engine.
Suggestions? Thanks! This is a great forum, and Go Polaris!

Some people seem to forget or never knew that you have to adjust the needle clip and air screw when the temperature changes. It can run great in the summer but when winter comes people think there is trouble when all they have to do is adjust. They do not run the same with all seasons. Just my 2 cents. Later!!!
