SP700 4 Wheel Drive Engagment Question
Hi all,
My friend just blew the front end of his 2002 SP700. He has been told by the dealer mechanic told him that the front tires will not engage until the wheel tires of done 1 complete rotation. He was also told by another that the mechanic was incorrect, because the 4 wheel drive is activated by the magnets, so why would the rear wheels need a full rotation to engage the front end. We are trying to figure out what caused his front end to blow, the bike only has 900 miles on it.
Do any of you know if this is true? Do the rear tires really need to rotate one full rotation before the front end will engage into 4 Wheel Drive?
Any help from you Polaris folks would be greatly appreciated. I ride a Quad, so I know nothing about them.
Thanx!
Erik

SP700 4 Wheel Drive Engagment Question
i'm riding polaris bikes since 1995... and i always thougth it was 1/8 of a rotation... anyways...
be carefull guys because on any polaris atv's, if you make the rear wheels spin fast on 2wd mode ( on ice or in mud for exemple ) , the 4wd may engage... that's what probabley happened to your friend.
it happened on my scrambler but i was ridding with water in the transmission ( i didn't know, obviously )so, instead of breaking in the hubs... the transmission cracked in two.
