Predator shoot-out
Only on the very top end will a piped shee take a Pred. I raced my buddy a couple times (we live way out on dirt roads in the middle of nowhere next to a coyote and a cactus) before my quad was even broken in, and I stayed right with him till I hit 5th gear. He also hit 5th and pulled 1-2 bikes and it probably would have been more, but we both let out.
Now that my bike is completely broken in, and went thru its 1st service, I will be running him again, and then after I get my pipe.

Don't believe everything you are told.
Also check out the Jan 03 issue of Dirt Wheels where they had a shootout of the Raptor, DS650, LTZ400, Moto 440 and Banshee. All were ALBA models (piped/jetted). The DS650 got beat by the Raptor and scored second to last.
The DS650's problem is weight -- over 500 lbs worth. Granted its motor is supposed to have the same power as a Predator, but it weighs at least 80 lbs more. And a Predator is 40 lbs heavier than a Raptor.

Predator shoot-out
I know that my Pred is fast and has a hit that'll make you smile, but I suppose that we'll have to wait for an unbiased magazine shoot-out. (is that an oxymoron?) Trouble is you cannot believe everything that is written here, alot of people just try to get a rise out of you, and most just don't want to admit that they got beat on their new $6,000 quad. I'll be racing a Raptor this weekend (stock) and I'll be honest about the outcome. I'm not too worried about my buddie's 400ex.
