Default 1995 POLARIS SPORT 400CC (SHOULD I BUY???)

I have a friend who is selling his 1995 polaris sport 400cc for 1200, I rode it last weekend and it seemed like a solid bike. It climbed good, it went through the mud good, and it did fine down by this big river bed by my house. So if I were (OR SHOULD I BUY THIS) are they expensive to fix or repair?? are they junk?? will $2000 dollars be able to modify it / or fix any repairs that I may run into if I should buy this four wheeler. Please anyone send me some info or insights on this four wheeler. I am not real familiar with polaris. Thanks

It sounds like a good deal since you said it was your friend you know wether or not it was beat to death. They are not to expensive to fix and $2000 is plenty to mod it. The only problems that i heard of for that year would be tie-rod ends, lower stearing post bushing, and brakes. But if you do alot of jumping i would get a chain tensioner for it. Hope this helps there are alot of people on here to give you even more advice though.

I have a modified 95 Xplorer 400 which has the same 400L 2 stroke engine etc.. and i had a 94 400 sport pryor to this. These's alot of mod's you can do for that amount, look at AAEN, RCR,hpd and Heelclicker for different mod's. if you want any info on what i have tried then email at michealandpam@yahoo.com. Around W. Ky a 95 sport in good shape goes for about 2500~3000.

Might be more of a question of how well does it fit what you want. I've always felt the best aspect of the polaris, and certainly the only reason I'd suggest a poliaris sport quad, was the on demand 4wd. To loose that (seems like the sport is the 2 wd version of the scrambler, right?) would make it useless to me.

Course they did some games somewhere with the name of those two, so if it IS a 4wd then I'd say go for it.

Personally I have owned a 95 sport 400, and wouldnt have another one now that I have the later models. The suspension is way down compared to the scrammy's or the 99 sport, the cylinder is the pre- sub intake port model which make less power, and the pipe selection is very poor. Not to mention the primary and secondary clutches are surely worn out. The singarm bolts had a nasty habit of coming loose and eating the holes on the frame where they attach. Sorry, but I learned that lesson. If it is in really good shape and you dont want to modify it too much, not a bad deal for $1200.Bubba

Good price but I would put the extra money into a fresh topend ,new pipe&silencer, air filter, brakes, tie rod ends and check swing arm and A arm bushings.do all of this and you will have a good machine. You may have to go with $2200 insted of $2000.
