Default Gas problems with a scrammy 400

Well I'm going to tear into it first thing in the morning. I plan to change the fuel filter, and the inline oil filter. I want to pull the carb off and look at it. I'm still not sure what I'm looking for but my dad is an auto mechanic and he is going to help me. I'm going to print off this thread and take it with me. Thank you guys for your help. If anyone has any more advice please let me know, because I really don't know what I'm doing. This is a great forum.

Well It was a strange problem indeed. I changed the fuel and oil filters, changed the spark plug, and really cleaned the air filter well. However when i took the carb off and took it apart I noticed that the plug in the bottom of the bowl had been worn down a lot. I then started looking close and that's when i noticed that it had a hole in it. So the plug was letting all my gas out, and probably sucking air in. Anyway it was different.

Thenk you guys for your help, it did help a lot.
